Islanders defenseman out indefinitely with a left shoulder injury

The New York Islanders have announced that defenseman Mark Streit will be out indefinitely with a left shoulder injury. Streit was injured on Saturday at the team's Orange and Blue Scrimmage when he accidentally crashed into the boards.
Streit, one of the Islanders assistant captains, has played the last two seasons on Long Island, totaling 105 points (27 goals and 78 assists). In his first year with the Islanders (2008-09), Streit led the team in scoring with 16 goals and 40 assists for 56 points. He also represented the Islanders at the 2009 NHL All-Star game in Montreal.
Last season, the native of Bern, Switzerland led all Islanders defenseman in scoring with 11 goals and 38 assists for 49 points.
